Tax Help for Older People

We are an independent charity, offering a free tax advice service for older people on low incomes. We specialise in giving personal tax advice to people over 60 (or their representatives) with an income under £20,000.

Our fully trained team of helpline staff in Dorset are able to provide telephone advice for approximately 80% of the enquiries but, due to increasing demand, we are constantly looking for volunteers to deal with the more complex issues with face to face appointments, either as part of a ‘tax surgery’ at an agreed venue or with a home visit.

Volunteers are able to help with a wide variety of issues, including helping fill out forms; checking tax codes, or resolving over - or underpayments. All volunteers receive training and full induction into our systems and all advisers are covered by our Professional Indemnity Insurance.
