Tickhill Spital Junction Improvements
A key Doncaster road is to undergo significant road safety improvements.
The crossroads of the A631 Bawtry Road/Stripe Road/Blyth Road junction, more commonly known as Tickhill Spital, will be widened to improve junction capacity and new traffic signals will be added.
The work will make vital road improvements needed following planning permission that has been granted by Bassetlaw Council for a housing development by Barratt Homes on the border of Doncaster.
The improvements, which are expected to start later in the year, will make the junction safer. Resurfacing the road and installing new street lighting to the latest standards will form part of the project.
As part of the work, some trees will need to be removed to allow for the road widening on Stripe Road and the new junction position for Blyth Road. Residents will see this work being done on site from next week (w/c 26th February).
The council have worked closely with Tickhill Town Council in conjunction with the project plans and also to agree locations where new trees will be planted. In line with the council’s tree planting policy, three times the amount of trees are being planted to replace those removed to benefit the local environment and planting has already begun with a remainder being planted at the location when the new junction is complete.
More information will be provided once a date for the work to start is agreed.
