Yorkshire Smokefree Doncaster launches new incentive to help community stop smoking

The 12-week programme provides people with the necessary support and resources to successfully quit smoking, including support with accessing free stop smoking medication and vaping products.

The service ensures each person receives tailored support that addresses their individual motivations for quitting. The programme focuses on developing new routines, preventing relapse, and finding alternatives to smoking, making the journey to quitting more manageable. Those participating will need to provide a carbon monoxide reading at the four and twelve week marks to validate their progress.

"We are excited to offer this incentive scheme to help more people quit smoking," said Zahra Velji, service manager from Yorkshire Smokefree Doncaster. "Stopping smoking is vital for improving health and creating a safer environment for everyone. Our service significantly increases the chances of success, and we are here to support you every step of the way."

The Eden Red vouchers will be issued electronically at key milestones during the programme and will be sent via email. To participate, you will need to have an email account. This initiative not only aims to improve individual health but also to reduce the risks associated with second hand smoke, benefitting families and the wider community.

Terms and conditions

If you currently smoke and wish to quit, you must meet the following criteria:

• Reside (and/or be employed) in Doncaster, where you pay council tax.
• Be at least 19 years old.
• Be committed to stopping smoking and participate in a 12 week treatment programme offered by Yorkshire Smokefree Doncaster. Additionally, you must provide a Carbon Monoxide reading to confirm outcomes at the four and twelve week mark.

Please note that a separate service is available for anyone who is pregnant and those under 19 years of age.

An email address is required to receive vouchers. Vouchers will be issued upon setting a quit date, and a Carbon Monoxide reading from smokers will be necessary to validate a successful cessation.
