Having the freedom to get out and about is really important. Here is information to help you make the most of your life.
If you are interested in joining a group or activity in your area, you can search our Directory. Here you will be able to find a large range of local groups that provide different kinds of hobbies and interests. You can filter your search by age group, area and category to make the results more suited to you, as well as finding out the contact and location details of each group. This is a good way to help you connect with your local community and get you out and about, whilst doing something you enjoy.

Transport
There are various types of transport and schemes available to help you travel in Doncaster:
Bus and Rail Passes
The Disabled Person’s Rail Card
This costs £20 for a year or £54 for three years and is designed to help make rail travel easier. Travellers and their companions may be eligible for up 1/3 rail travel discount.

The Senior Bus Pass
This pass gives you free off-peak travel on buses across England. To find out if you are eligible and apply visit the Travel South Yorkshire website.
The Senior Rail Card
This costs £30 for a year or £70 for three years, but could save you 1/3rd on off-peak train tickets, for more information visit the Senior Railcard website.
Mobility Travel Pass
The Mobility Travel Pass entitles people with a disability to free travel on off peak buses in England, and buses, trams and trains within South Yorkshire at any time. Restrictions apply.

Blue Badge Scheme
The Blue Badge scheme is for people with severe mobility problems. It allows blue badge holders to park close to where they need to go. The scheme operates throughout the UK to national guidelines.

Motability Scheme
Motability is a government funded scheme. It gives people with a disability the ability to enjoy both choice and independence over their travel arrangements. Applicants must be in receipt of the Disability Living Allowance Higher Rate Mobility component. (Enhanced rate of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) when it comes into force.) Door 2 Door
If you have difficulty using mainstream public transport, Door 2 Door Community Transport services in South Yorkshire may be able to help.
Door 2 Door services are operated using fully accessible vehicles that take you directly from your home and around the local area you live in, making your travel experience as easy as possible. All Door 2 Door services must be pre-booked before travel.

Hospital Services
Hospital Shuttle Service is a free hospital shuttle service operating between Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Montagu in Mexborough and is open to outpatients, their escorts and hospital in-patient visitors.
