Within our Family Hubs, you’ll find:
  • Fun and engaging activities and groups for families with children
  • Regular events and peer group support networks for parents, guardians and caregivers
  • Access to key antenatal and postnatal appointments with Midwifery and Health Visiting services
  • Access to early years facilities and spaces including sensory rooms and outdoor learning spaces
  • Support and guidance around infant feeding including breastfeeding-friendly spaces, loaning of pumps and feeding peer support groups
  • Wider support for family issues through our partner services including housing and financial support, welfare and parent relationship support and much more

We run a huge range of FREE groups, sessions and events at our Family Hubs for parents, care givers, little ones and families of all ages!

Pregnancy/Antenatal groups

For those parents and families on their pregnancy journey, we offer:

  • Antenatal classes and support – join us in person or virtually for our antenatal offer, including the Antenatal parenting classes delivered by the Health Visiting service and other courses and classes available, all designed to support you in Understanding pregnancy, labour, birth and your baby. Speak to your Early Days Worker for further information
  • ‘First Friends’ group sessions – For both pre- and post-birth, our First Friends group sessions are great opportunities to meet other new mums in your area, gain support and advice from a Nursery Nurse and offer those first interactions for your little one with other babies once they arrive
  • Breast Start sessions – For pre- and post-birth. Our Breast Start group sessions are designed to offer a friendly and relaxed environment that gives an opportunity to meet other breastfeeding mums, share experiences and build your confidence and knowledge of breastfeeding with support from peers and a trained nursery nurse.

New parents and the Early Days

  • ‘First Friends’ group sessions – Our First Friends group sessions are great opportunities to meet other new mums in your area, gain support and advice from a Nursery Nurse with your new baby, and offer those first interactions for your little one with other babies
  • Breast Start sessions –Our Breast Start group sessions are designed to offer a friendly and relaxed environment that gives an opportunity to meet other breastfeeding mums, share experiences and build your confidence and knowledge of breastfeeding with support from peers and a trained nursery nurse
  • Infant Massage – You will be invited by your Health Visitor to attend one of our free, six-week Infant Massage Course. You will learn gentle massage techniques with your baby, which will support bonding and attachment, improve baby’s skin and sleep, aid digestion and help reduce colic
  • Sensory Rooms – Some of our Family Hubs have dedicated sensory rooms available to use free of charge (on a bookable basis) which will offer a fantastic sensory experience for you new baby, supporting their development. Contact your Local Family Hub for more information about what is available.

For families with babies, toddlers and beyond

We offer a huge range of groups, classes and events throughout the year. Not all them run at once and we would urge you to check out our latest timetable for more information. An example of some of the groups you might find at our Family Hubs are:

The Family Hubs are the place where most expectant parents may have their antenatal midwifery and health visiting appointments, but alongside this, our team of Early Years professionals, including the Early Days Workers you will meet on your pregnancy journey, who are on hand to provide a wealth of support, advice and guidance throughout this journey to parenthood! We provide a range of services and support including:

  • Parenting support and classes including antenatal support
  • Wellbeing support ensuring all parents and caregivers feel their best and feel well supported
  • Breastfeeding support and other infant feeding support 
  • Parent peer groups to give you the opportunity to meet other parents at a similar stage to you
  • Wider support for family issues through our partner services including housing and financial support, welfare and parent relationship support and much more
